Overall I think that my last semester's work has a lot of potential. I made at least 15 different 3D printed moulds. What I discovered is that if I re-use a mould I get different results, which made the process uncontrolled. However, I feel that this gave my pieces the organic feel that I was aiming towards. I believe that I need to spend more time working on a controlled use of colour in my pieces as well as working on connections.

My intent is to continue on with my last semesters work, which is to create a jewellery line inspired by under the sea. I plan for my work to imitate coral like forms and act as an augmentation to the body of the wearer. Through my development this semester I hope to create habitat like jewellery. The elements that I aim to achieve through this body of work are; a controlled use of colour, balanced proportions, stimulate senses and create harmony between materials.

I plan to continue to use rubber as my material of choice as well as silicone and fabric. I will continue to source materials from Amazon.

Artists that have inspired me this semester so far are Hannah May Chapman and Elyse Graham.

Below are images of Elyse Graham's 'Geodes.' She casts layers of colourful urethane around a balloon mould. Her work is inspired by the desert, psychedelia, yoga, and the wind.

The objects are sawed open, they reveal incredibly beautiful swirls of colour and texture that are the result of a process that’s somehow both carefully calibrated and entirely left to chance.

Here is an excerpt taken directly from Hannah May Chapman's website describing her jewellery.

"With hidden depth and meaning found in most work these days, I choose to hide nothing in my jewellery and aim to entertain and put a smile on your face."

When I look at Hannah's work, it does just that, puts a smile on my face. Her strange use and combinations of materials really make sparks go off inside of me. She inspires me to integrate many different materials in my own work.

Below are some images of her work.

Having seen your work from last semester I can imagine your work developing into more sculptural pieces a bit like these artists you have mentioned.

Sckye I'm looking forward to some analysis of what worked well, what is worthy of continued development, and what should be left behind after your work on this series/themes in the first semester. I think doing this will help give some clear parameters and focus for this semester- so it isn't too many weeks of opened ended experiments. I think you know how some of these materials work now, (3D prints, rubbers, silicon, add-ins),- so how will these modules/components start to take shape? Would you like to make a few, more complex, pieces? Would you like to develop a broad/quicker to fabricate line of jewelry? I haven't seen your week-by-week timeline, but maybe it is here?
