We left off last week waiting for things to dry and defining more sketches...

The first sketch really interested me as a brooch concept.

Here are the steps I took to start to create my desired shape.

First I created the shape with polymer clay and then I baked it.

It was then set in rubber silicone so that I could make a mold. However, the original piece didn't survive the de-molding process.

Above are the 3D printed earring pieces that I printed at home.

Above are some of the failed prints. Sometimes the prints don't stick to the printing bed as well as others, they then tend to warp. Resulting in myself having to print a lot of them. (which take somewhat long to wait for)

I took this picture to show the different sizes and shapes of the molds that i've created and printed. On the left it shows the different colored rubber setting in the 3D printed molds.

The above picture displays a concept of the earrings that I sketched. These earrings contain rubber components, fragments of sea glass, sea fans, rocks and resin.

I like that you're using natural material in with the plastics and rubber, makes me think of precious sea fossils. Looking forward to seeing the creations that are curing away in those molds.

Looks like full on production mode there! It’s nice now that you have all your materials and you’ve created a lot of mould soou can work on iterations and pieces collage from modular elements. I really enjoy the last piece it’s sort of like a classic cameo shape but with unexpected elements inside of it. I also like the tension between artificial shells like the limpet made from resin and the natural components. I think you can work with that the tension between these two.
