I've been waiting for my materials to come in from away... It's been somewhat of a wait due to Covid and Customs in my home country. I've been staying busy by doing design development. Here are a few of my favourite designs so far...

Above: I try to use coloured pencils to display different components and make it easier while explaining my drawings to other people. Both of these sketches displays brooch concepts. The very top one is a very simple design. It features two rubber components and a found object (rope).

The second sketch on this page also features a brooch . This time it shows a 3D Printed Ring Base (shown in red). The components that make up this ring are seaweed from the beach, a found object, and my rubber pieces. All found objects will come from beaches that I've collected from.

Above: The sketches above show potential ring designs. As i've written in my midterm reflection I think that it would give my pieces a different contrast having a clean formed ring shank because there are so many things going on at the top of the piece. It will allow your eye to focus.

Below are a few renderings of what I wanted the ring to look like.

I've inserted a video of the beach that I sourced the seaweed from. The blue transparent pods that you see in the seaweed are called Portuguese Man of War, they are jellyfish that sting really bad. We (Bermudians) pronounce it "Manawars" and are taught from a young age to stay far away from them. In these months hundreds and sometimes thousands wash up on the beaches.

Great that you did some designing as you waited for new materials. The juxtaposition of both hand drawing and CAD renderings would be great for a portfolio. Im interested in your neckpiece as the scale and materiality is different from what you have created until now~
